Christian Ministry Advancement Standards Council is “open for business” to accept applications for accreditation from all Christian organisations.

The CMA Standards Council was officially launched at special events at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Club on 16 November 2017 before an audience of over 100 people, and at Sydney’s Pullman Quay Grand on December 5th.

CMA Standards Council is a ministry of Christian Ministry Advancement Ltd/Christian management Australia

Their mission is to “help  build faith and trust  in Christian organisations, be they churches, charities, schools or otherwise, to enable them to achieve more effective outcomes.”

They “believe that the love and teachings of Jesus are vital for our world to experience and understand, and therefore we believe that Christian organisations and churches perform a valuable role in society.

Their desire is that “these organisations are effective in pursing their mission, and that they govern and account for themselves in a manner that stands up to public scrutiny. Christian organisations should be the standard-setters in terms of impeccable corporate behaviour, and the CMA Standards Council exists to help the Christian sector meet that high standard.”

They do this by:

  • Articulating and publishing a set of standards defining accountable behaviour for Christian organisations and churches;
  • Accrediting organisations who are fully compliant with those standards;
  • Publishing details of accredited organisations in our  directory;
  • Providing resources, training and assistance to help organisations become more accountable; and
  • Challenging donors and volunteers to favour organisations who are serious about good governance, transparency and accountability.

The CMA Standards Council’s ‘Nine Principles of Ministry Accountability’, the 54 standards that fall under those principles, and the four supporting policies, represent the essential requirements necessary for an organisation to become accredited by the Standards Council.

The 9 Principles are:

  1. GOD FIRST
  2. CHARITABLE STATUS
  3. DILIGENT GOVERNANCE
  4. RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP
  5. CHARITABLE PURPOSE
  6. FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT
  7. RISK MANAGEMENT
  8. TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
  9. HONEST COMMUNICATION
